Oh, I love Mary Janes!

My husband loves to harass me about my draw to anything that hints that it’s a Mary Jane.  It’s true – I’m a sucker.  My knees aren’t the biggest fan of heels so I tend to look for flats.  Sometimes it’s annoying when I can’t find stylish shoes that don’t have much heel.  WELL, I am in love.

Not only are they grey, they are two tone.  SWEET! (I’m ignoring the price tag.)  They have them in Brown, too! *cheers*

I found these just entertaining myself by perusing shoe sites.  These are Born shoes.  Another style of shoe that pretty much sucks me in EVERY TIME are red shoes.  Another find on Born…

Meet Jazzy.  If I had anyway to justify these, I’d already own them.  Alas, I have a realistic frugal side.  One day Jazzy, or a sister of hers, will be well loved by me!

Last showing comes from LL Bean.  We get their catalog periodically.  Usually I don’t like their shoes, but green and grey are one of my favorite color combos.  Green is my favorite color followed very closely by grey.  Put them together – perfect!

I love shoes.  For now, I will live vicariously.

Princess Catherine

I have always liked Kate Middleton but since the engagement and their wedding, there is SO much more out there to see.  I loved Princess Diana’s style as well.  Princess Catherine is stylish and just seems classy effortlessly.  Here are some of my favorite looks from their trip through Canada & brief stop over in LA.

This nautical vintage-ish dress is my favorite.

LOVE the maple leaf nod in her fascinator.

I’m a sucker for a navy blazer and a nice blouse.  Skinny jeans – I hate them.  Not the most flattering pants on her.

Ok, I love navy and white.  This dress is so lovely.  At first I thought they were polka-dots, but I think they’re actually triangles.   She looks comfortable as if it took 15 minutes to get ready.

This gown is so lovely.  She tends to dress modestly which just makes me adore her style even more.  I think this gown is actually from something before their trip.

This yellow dress is so lovely.  Seriously, I think it would take a lot for her to look awful.  She has such classic tastes.

I love the casual “cowboy” look.  They both look nice.  No matter how I wish it, my thighs will never look that nice in jeans.

Green is my favorite color and I think her hair color matched with the green makes both pop.  It’s a simple dress and she makes it look so lovely as always.

I love her half-bun and the navy and white outfit here as she’s greeting some children in LA.  It’s an outfit that I think my friend Danika would look just as lovely as Princess Catherine in.

Princess Kate will be popping up on here regularly.  Please share your feelings good or bad.  I’ve always loved fairy tales and I hope that Prince William and Princess Kate will live happily ever after!

Bonnie Wright

As I’ve already stated, I am not the biggest fan of pink.  However, I am willing to admit when an outfit comes along that I love.  I might be slightly biased because I love Bonnie Wright as Ginny Weasley.  Her red carpet look at the London Premier of “Deathly Hollows Part 2” is fabulous!  Apparently the girly girl in me is gaining ground!

I tend to not dislike pinks that look peachy.  I LOVE this outfit.  Seriously.

Blouses with Bows

Recently I was in a wedding party for a friend and discovered that I really like blouses with bows on them.  Suddenly I am seeing them everywhere.  Katie Holmes has one in her new line Holmes and Yang.  WHY is “fashion” so freaking expensive?!  It’s something that just is beyond my comprehension.  As I was looking around online at photos of the launch party recently, I saw a couple of pictures of Katie and another blouse that I loved.

I love the blouse.  The pink/purple (depending on which monitor I’m on) dress below is part of her own label.  I love it.  PLUS – it’s modest!!  That’s just even better.

I love turquoise and teal.  This blouse below is my favorite – the off center collar just makes me happy 😉

What are your thoughts on this style of blouse?

Award Season Fashion – Golden Globes and SAG

It’s nice to see some modest Red Carpet fashion in Hollywood!  These are the ones I liked best.  Hopefully the trend will increase.

Sandra Bullock

Scarlett Johanson

Emma Stone

January Jones

They’re flattering and very feminine.  They’ve given me a lot of ideas for accessories as well!  We’ll see what the Oscar’s bring us in a couple of weeks.

1950’s Party Fashion

I love old movies and the fashion from the first half of the 1900’s.  Our society has become so casual.  I love vintage style and wish we had opportunities to get dressed up for a night out.  Men look so sharp in suits and ties and women dressed up in a frock that flatters her figure just makes for a pleasant time.  Don’t you agree?

Millie Mott’s blog is truly visual serendipity!  I would love to go out dolled up like some of these.

One of my favorite movies is “White Christmas.”  I love the style and costumes.  My favorite is the green velvet dress (below in the middle) that Betty Haynes (Rosemary Clooney) wears at the party where Judy and Phil announce their phony engagement.

I love Phil and Judy (Danny Kaye and Vera Ellen) together.  This is just a classic representation of how people dressed when they were out in public.  So classy!

Irish Hockey Christmas Wish

There’s nothing quite like an Irish Hockey team lip-syncing to Mariah Carey.  I hope you enjoy it.

Merry Christmas!

Color Trends for 2011

I found on the Pantone site the list of Pantone Color Trends for Spring 2011.  There are some fun colors coming!  They even have a PDF that you can download for free ( Pantone PDF .)

I LOVE color!  Granted, Pink is not my preferred color.  But Silver Peony is such a delicate shade, that I might have to admit to liking a pink!  The color palate is quite a mix of bright and muted tones that promote versatility.

I think Honeysuckle, Russet and Silver Peony would transfer beautifully to satin fabric.

Can’t you imagine a New Year’s Eve party wearing a gorgeous tailored satin shirt in one of those colors paired with a nice pencil skirt or slacks? Who wouldn’t look and feel great?!

Here are a few other fun images.  Definitely go check out the Pantone site and let me know what you think about the palate.

Things I’m Grateful For!

There are many things that I am grateful for and this past Thanksgiving season made me even more grateful! I’m grateful for:
1. Supportive family & friends
2. Living in The United States of America and all the freedoms I enjoy
3. The many men and women who have served or are currently serving in the military to preserve our freedoms and the sacrifices they and their families make.
4. People in the fashion industry that support, encourage and promote positive and healthy self-images for females through modest fashions (Eliza Magazine and Eva Khurshid)
5. The opportunity to express my creative whims easily.
6. Talents that I was blessed with from Heavenly Father
7. That I have patient people willing to help me gain new skills and make them talents
8. That I can see color! I LOVE colors and how they brighten up so many different aspects of life!
9. My Hands – it’d be much harder for me to express myself verbally, creatively and others without my hands.
10. Mother Nature – there is endless beauty and an abundance of awe inspiring places all over this Earth we live on. I’m so thankful I’m able to enjoy so much where I live and look forward to exploring this world the rest of my life so that I can enjoy even more!
11. Modern Transportation – this has indulged my wander lust. Road trips, train, airplane, cruises & bus trips are something I know I don’t appreciate enough. Within a matter of hours I can be on the other side of the World easily. Living a few States away from family/friends does not mean we’ll never see each other again like it did in the past Century.
12. Everyone who visits and comments on my blog and all my customers at Cache of Panache!

This is just a small list of the things that I am grateful for.

How To: Interchangeable Watch Bands

This video demonstrates how the interchangeable watches and bands work. There are various types of watches and bands to come. The ones demonstrated here fit a solid bar watch face with lobster claws as the clasps. All of the current watch bands are stretchy.
